Our Recreational Programs offer a variety of fun, engaging, and age-appropriate classes that promote movement, confidence, and skill development in a positive and safe environment.

Junior Gym Programs (walking to 5 years)

Early movers (2 years and under)

Instructor Directed; Parent Led Class

Early Movers is a parent and tot class for those littles who are crawling or just taking their first steps!

Held in the mini gym; parents, with the help of a coach, will encourage their littles to explore their surroundings and own limits is a safe space.

As parent participation is mandatory and class has a laid-back approach, these 45 min become a great opportunity to bond with your little and other moms!

PARENT & TOT (Walking to 3 years)

Parents, with the help of a coach, will guide their tots through a short warm up, games, creative movement and they will have a chance to run, jump, climb and play on each apparatus. As parent participation is mandatory, Parent & Tot classes become a great opportunity to bond with each other.

3 Year Olds (Transition Class)

Now that your tots are in the “I can do it myself” stage, 3-Year-Old classes are a perfect transition from one-on-one help to a coach/small group setting. Parents are welcome on the floor to aid through this transition.

3-Year-Old classes are 1 hour long and begin to enforce sharing, taking turns, listening skills, problem solving and independence.

Classes will include learning fundamental gymnastics skills through games, stations, circuits on each apparatus and weekly themes and activities.

4-5 YEAR OLDS

As your child’s strength and energy grows, 4–5-Year-Old classes are here to challenge, refine and develop their social and physical skills.

This 1 hour structured and coach led class will not only teach the progressions of fundamental gymnastics skills to more challenging skills on each apparatus, but it will also increase confidence through games, gymnastics vocabulary, routine and encouraging feedback.

GYM N’ DANCE (3-5 years)

Do you have a little one that is constantly dancing and flipping? Gym N’ Dance is a perfect class for them.

This 1-hour class includes a 10-minute warm up, 20 minutes of basic dance instruction such as ballet positions, plies, releves and sautes as well as 30 minutes in the gym focusing on 2-3 pieces of equipment each week (vault, bars, beam, floor and trampoline) that teach fundamental gymnastics skills through stations and circuits.

MINI NINJAS (3-5 years)

This class focuses on jumping, climbing, rolling, swinging, and twisting. Athletes will learn how to move through an environment in different ways – going over & under obstacles, learning to jump from one object to another, using agility and balance to jump off various heights and more.

If your kids like to run, jump & play this is the class for them!

ALL STARS (by coach invite only)

All Stars is a 1-hour advanced Junior Gym class that prepares young athletes for our competitive programs once they are old enough.

Each class will consist of a warmup, stretching, beginning simple strength conditioning and will focus more on technique in their foundational skills.

Athletes will be challenged to try new, more advanced skills on each apparatus all while having fun with their coaches and teammates.

Ninja (5-9 years)

Our Ninja program entails a dynamic blend of high intensity interval training with obstacle course training. The Ninja Program trains athletes in climbing, jumping, running, and the core essentials of gymnastics (rolls, safety landings).

All tasks that are given to the athletes are modified based on their skill level to best assist their growth within the program.

Ultimately, the program is here to help empower athletes of all skill levels to achieve unprecedented goals as well as grow their confidence and athletic performance.

FUNdamental Gymnastics

Fundamental Gymnastics (5-12 years)

The Key City FUNdamental Gymnastics Program is a series recreational gymnastics classes, designed for children ages 5-12 (different age groups available). Participants will be taught basic FUNdamental movement patterns and skills that are part of physical literacy, transferring into both gymnastics’ skills, as well as fundamental sport skills. Key City FUNdamental Program focuses on building confidence in the athlete’s ability to perform fundamental movement patterns as well as developing a strong foundation of basic gymnastics skills. Each FUNdamental class will begin with a FUN focus on physical literacy movement skills and games, which will transfer into the traditional gymnastics portion of the FUNdamental class. Each FUNdamental class is streamed according to age of participants. Children’s progress will be measured using Gymnastics Canada’s CANGYM program. Every athlete will receive a report card at the end of each session documenting their progress.

Junior Fundamental (5 year olds)

The Key City Junior FUNdamental Gymnastics Program is a 1-hour class designed for 5 years old who are adjusting to their Kindergarten year in school. Participants will be taught basic FUNdamental movement patterns and skills that are part of physical literacy, transferring into both gymnastics skills, as well as fundamental sport skills. Key City FUNdamental Program focuses on building confidence in the athlete’s ability to perform fundamental movement patterns as well as developing a strong foundation of basic gymnastics skills. Each FUNdamental class will begin with a FUN focus on physical literacy movement skills and games, which will transfer into the traditional gymnastics portion of the FUNdamental class. Each FUNdamental class is streamed according to age of participants.

Boys fundamental

The Key City FUNdamental Gymnastics Boys Program is a series recreational gymnastics classes, designed for 5–10-year-old boys. Participants will be taught basic FUNdamental movement patterns and skills that are part of physical literacy, transferring into both gymnastics’ skills, as well as fundamental sport skills. Key City FUNdamental Program focuses on building confidence in the athlete’s ability to perform fundamental movement patterns as well as developing a strong foundation of basic gymnastics skills on men’s apparatus. Each FUNdamental class will begin with a FUN focus on physical literacy movement skills and games, which will transfer into the traditional gymnastics portion of the FUNdamental class. Each FUNdamental class is streamed according to age of participants.

Advanced Fundamental Gymnastics

This is an advanced recreational program designed for those who have the desire to spend more time doing gymnastics and are willing to challenge themselves.

This program will offer the fun aspect of FUNdamental Gymnastics while beginning to learn more advanced skills. This class will allow the gymnasts to develop the strength and flexibility to perform these more challenging skills.

Athletes must pass CanGym Level 4 in order to participate in Advanced FUNdamental Gymnastics.

Trampoline & Tumbling (9-12 years)

Trampoline and Tumbling consists of the most explosive and dynamic elements of gymnastics! Key City’s trampoline and tumbling classes emphasize body awareness, self-confidence, and skill acquisition. The use of the trampoline, tumble track, double mini trampoline, and the spring floor are used to develop a strong foundation of trampoline skills and tumbling basics.

Athletes progress will be measured using Gymnastics Canada’s CANJUMP program.  Every athlete will receive a report card at the end of each session documenting their progress.
